In this, the second part of the Dark Arts Podcast (ignore the intro, it's part 2 of 2), We turn the tables so Ray is bringing up high and low points from the book. In the later part of the podcast I bring up what I'll be up to next in the Spinward Fringe universe and allude to some changes that will be coming to Crewcast Radio in February 2016.

There were a few light spoilers in the first part of this podcast, but there are definitely huge spoilers for Dark Arts in this one, so if you haven't red the book, please turn away.

Thank you for listening, please leave comments and support for Dark Arts below, we absolutely love permanent commenting!

Our furry guest-host, pouting.

It’s been a long time, but I’ve returned with two co-hosts! Luke Alberton joins me for a special episode of The Spinward Fringe Podcast where we discuss the most recent book, Broadcast 8: Renegades, the future of the series, and what I’m writing right now, Brightwill. We are temporarily joined by Aurelius, my roommate’s dog. He pops up a couple times, then lets out what sounds like a short death-squeal when Luke motions for the pup to go back upstairs. The dramatic dog ended his appearance and pouted for the rest of the podcast.

Also discussed are other podcasts including An Axe To Grind, more Spinward Fringe / Brightwill podcasts, and Thumbscrew Cinema, a feature podcast coming soon.

Thank you for joining us, please leave a comment or two!

13687498761960912698door-opening-hiSylvie and I (Randolph Lalonde), spend some time talking about the seven part preview of Spinward Fringe Broadcast 8 (available here), which is a story in itself with a beginning, middle and end. This podcast will spoil that story for you, so it's a good idea to read it before you listen to this one. We talk about some of the story decisions, and how the central character in the story has evolved.

I also take some time to apologise, as we part the curtain for a look behind the scenes and how little time Sylvie had to work with me on getting the seven part story out into the world. As an Editor, she was on a very tight schedule, and I tell her how I'll be changing things so that doesn't happen anymore. All in all, this is a good hour for the Spinward Fringe Podcast, and we do go into some details about how Broadcast 8 is coming along, so people looking for a progress update will find it here.

Thank you so much for listening!

samurai-fighter-squadron-BLACKSylvie and I (Randy), get together to discuss how Amazon is treating their authors and what's happening with the final edit of the Spinward Fringe series. After we've explored those topics, we move on to some non-spoilery but important information on Spinward Fringe Broadcasts 8, 9 and 10. The status report and juicy bits are all in there, so tune in and catch up on the details.

The song we feature at the end is Red Hands, by Walk Off The Earth. We thank them for giving us their permission to play their music.

Thank you so much for listening!

In this episode I reinforce my goals for this year, setting expectations for Broadcast 8, 9, and I talk about what it took to responsibly step back and figure out when those can be expected. We also had a major incident in studio involving some water, so the computer we normally use for podcasting is not available. We recorded on a Mac Mini and use a Cloudkicker tune for the temporary entry theme.

Luke Alberton, from another podcast: An Axe To Grind, co-hosts this episode with me as we talk about my month off, a couple adventures, and what lies ahead.

Yesterday Crewcast Radio obtained permission to use the music of Amanda Palmer so we are pleased to present Want It Back, a track from her latest album: Theatre Is Evil.

Thank you so much for listening!

In this special episode of the Spinward Fringe Podcast, I announce the release date of Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework (that's November 21, 2012), and a SPECIAL SURPRISE for everyone who takes the time to listen. I talk about what this book means to me and thank the people who made it what it is, as well as the folks who have supported me for so long.

You'll also find the details on where you can get the book, what formats it's available in, and info on the collected Rogue Element Trilogy in print.

Thank you so much for your support over the years, and I hope you enjoy listening as well as reading.

This is the good stuff! Things start off with a Broadcast 7 update Sylvie and I (Randolph Lalonde), talk about finishing Broadcast 7 and some of the notes that typically get passed between a writer and their editor near the end of a project.

We also discuss some of Jacob Valance's journey from Broadcast 1 to Broadcast 7 (without spoiling anything in Broadcast 7). We shed a little light on which characters are largely focused on in this book, and discuss some of the benefits of writing a series, as well as final polishing required to finish Broadcast 7 off.

We take a moment to answer the question; "Do I need to read the Expendable Few to know what's going on in Broadcast 7?" and we continue on to talk about the language and style in that book.

The topic of the discarded draft of Broadcast 7 comes up right before we talk about National Novel Writing Month a little. There are a few nuggets in here, and some insider peeks at what writing this book was like.

Thank you so much for listening, the new season of The Spinward Fringe Podcast will begin as soon as the release date for Broadcst 7 can be announced, so keep an eye on this feed!

In this, the last solo episode of the first season of the Spinward Fringe Podcast, I take you through updates on Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework, the Spinward Fringe Role Playing Game, The Sons Of Brightwill, future Spinward Fringe Broadcasts, what I think about starting a completely different series of books in another genre, re-edits and so much more! I also talk about seeking an agent, and getting a TV show on the air.

Thank you for listening!

Sylvie and I dig into the nitty gritty of our work on The Expendable Few and Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework after I provide a fairly significant update on the progress. There's still no release date, but we're closer.

Next we get into questions from email and from the Facebook Page, where I answer questions about Alice, her role in Broadcast 7, and Sylvie answers questions about her own writing. There's new stuff you've never heard before in this episode, and the Spinward Fringe community played a big part in determining what content ended up in this broadcast.

This week we play Dragonfly by Universal Hall Pass, please check them out if you like what you hear.

Other links from this Broadcast include: Neil Gaiman's post about Entitlement Issues post, Iron Sky, the official Spinward Fringe Facebook Page, and the Goodreads Forum

In this broadcast I tie things up by discussing my love of entertaining people. When you consider the fact that I have stage fright, I'm surprised that there's anything to talk about at all before I started publishing novels online. The other two episodes lead here, and I believe it's the best of the autobiographical episodes. Everything important ties in, and I offer a real update on Broadcast 7, finally talking about why it's taking so long for this book to be written. The end of the episode is dedicated to you, and I take a moment to answer a couple important questions. There's also a lot of music from some great bands, who you'll be able to find using the links below.

Again For The Win: Guns. You can find them at www.againforthewin.com

Parallel Lions: For You. You can find them at www.parallellions.com

Universal Hall Pass: Special Agent. You can hear more of their music by visiting www.universalhallpass.com

The episode wraps up with The Megas: History Repeating parts 1 & 2. Find more of their music by visiting www.themegas.com

This week I'm doing my first solo episode. Instead of doing a standard radio-style show, I'm taking a running leap at a biographical style, so this episode is filled with stories of my early years and advice on writing that I know applies to every writer out there because I've never seen it proven wrong. This is all wrapped in a theme, and your challenge is to guess it before the 45 minute mark.

I hope you enjoy this experimental episode. I'm looking for feedback, so please leave your comments below or talk about this podcast wherever you normally discuss Spinward Fringe.

The music at the end of this episode is provided by WVM. I play the latest from the new album: The End Is Only The Beginning. The track is called For a Better Tomorrow (feat. Josh Freese). You can find his work anywhere great MP3's are sold including iTunes and Bandcamp.

Thank you so much for listening!

Ray and I take a look at Spinward Fringe Broadcast 2, in what turns out to be a fairly thorough and flavorful read-along edition of the podcast. It's not your typical read-along, rather, we have a great time looking at the book from every angle but in no particular order.

Until I re-read Broadcast 2 the night before as a noval in its own right, I had forgotten how much fun I had writing it, and how I think it wraps up the set of Broadcast 1 and Broadcast 2 nicely.

So, sit back, put your feet and listen in as Ray and I enjoy this book aloud, examining our favourite bits, what happens in the book, what the chracters experience and where we end up on the last page.

We're thinking of Bif Naked as she struggles with health issues, wishing her all the best and hoping she makes a full recovery. This week we play Red Flag from her most recent album: The Promise. You can find her through Bifnaked.com or wherever great music is sold.

Thank you for listening!

Sylvie and Luke join me in studio to talk writing, podcasting and how awesome the Facebook Page crew are. We answer the questions: What advice do we have for self publishers? For new writers? As well as: Why podcast? What's with the music? and I talk about how big change can disrupt the creative process. Stephen King and Russel T Davies (of Dr Who and Coupling fame), come up, as well as Wattpad and what the future of the Crewcast Radio Network might look like now that we have 15 episodes under our belt.

We round out this epic, afternoon filling episode by thanking the Facebook Crew for helping out in times of need, and the tip jar for the talent that enters the bunker to help me with the show.

This double sized episode also contains twice the music!

The first song is by that fantastic, whimsical band: Pomplamoose, called Little Things. Check thm out if you like what you hear!

The second track is by Stereo Alchemy, a new act with huge talent. We play the title track from their new album, God of Love. Check them out if your ears are pleased!

Thank you for listening!

I have the pleasure of sitting down with Sylvie and Luke for a fantastic Q&A using quesitons from the Facebook Page. We talk about where the material cut from my books goes, the Edxi Plushie and why it's a bad idea, evolution in interstellar settlements, what's next for Spinward Fringe merchandise, printed book availability and Luke talks about handling hecklers on stage as a stand up comic. I also provide an update on Broadcast 7 progress.

This fantastic episode is brought to a charming close thanks to Pomplamoose. We play a tune from the album: 3 New Songs! Woot! called If You Think You Need Some Lovi. Check them out on iTunes or www.pomplamoose.com

The Youtube clip we talked about with Luke Alberton performing on stage can be found here. Check him out! (Not safe for work)

This is the first of the Q&A extraveganza episodes, where we do nothing but answer your questions! I also tell a couple stories, but back to the point. A few of the questions include: Where did the name Vindyne come from? What's with that Victory Machine? and What's my favourite drink? There are too many to mention here, so give this a listen! We also play some music by They Might Be Giants, tell you about a charity they're supporting and how to get some free tunes. Thank you for your questions, and thanks for listening!

Crewcast Radio Broadcast 10

In this episode Ray and I (Randolph Lalonde), discuss Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework after I thank some retired podcasters for giving me a major hand and holding them partially responsible for my online rambling, submit our popularity report, and I talk about a recent blog post where I cast out the whiners and thank the supporters. Our discussion about Broadcast 7 doesn't spill precious beans (meaning there are no spoilers), and we feature music from the Omega Experiment at the end.

Crewcast Radio Broadcast 9

We discuss all the characters in Broadcast 1, and wander into topics including: Artificial Intelligence's love for Birdhouse In Your Soul, character romance that never happened, I name the perfect actress for Stephanie Vega, what the podcast was supposed to be called, and how things get cut from the series all the time. Music in this episode is provided by Bif Naked! Check her out at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bif-Naked/52180916228 and http://www.bifnaked.com/
