studio iphone photo 2013After some planning and development time, Randolph Lalonde and Shawn McLaren finally sit down and record a podcast to break the ice. This is the very beginning of the story, folks: these hosts don't know each other much at all in every day life, but in the spirit of collaboration and having common goals, they've decided to start it all in front of the mic.

This is the talk before the talk. On a Sunday afternoon the talkative twosome finish planning That Other Podcast (coming soon!), and reveal what the show will be like. They also tell a few stories, have many laughs, and, most importantly, find out if they can work in a room together. Tune in, find out, and post a comment if you feel so inclined.

At the end of our show we feature R.E.V.O. from Walk Off The Earth, who just released a fantastic album.

Thank you for listening!

To call the discussion in this episode 'lively' would be an understatement. Stephanie, Sylvie, Andy and I (Randy), all have opinions on reboots, adaptations and other related topics, and we explore a wide range of films and movies. We also share some news about upcoming reboots that are in early development and on their way to theatres. So, listen in as we discuss all things old made new again.

ImageIn this double episode, Stephanie, Sylvie and I take our first run at a discussion about women in contemporary North American fiction. I like to think that we did well in this episode discussing heroic women in fiction as well as a range of other related topics including prejudices and double standards.

This was originally going to be a split episode, but it became plain to me (Randy), that this episode had to stay in one piece because we get a little serious about things and we come to a conclusion that I think requires the proper context.

Ultimately, our discussion took a life of its own and went in an unexpected, but interesting direction. The topic was much larger than we could have contained in the time given, so I'm sure we're going to revisit this topic in the future from a different angle.

Thank you so much for listening, please share your comments on this topic and our approach and / or conclusions. I'm begging here, we want to hear from you.

In this interview conducted by Luke Alberton on behalf of Indie Author Land Randolph Lalonde discusses Spinward Fringe, how he relates to readers, whether or not there's a character in the series that represents him directly, as well as Broadcast 8 and another project that's still a closely kept sectret.

Special thanks to Indie Author Land for prompting this interview, and to Luke Alberton who conducted it!

Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework Cover

This broadcast is all about Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework. Sylvie and I delve as deeply as we can into the book, discuss some controversial parts, and answer many, many questions directly from readers. There are also a few serious behind the scene moments, and tales of scenes that were cut entirely. The best thing about this episode? You guys. This e

pisode exists because there was a serious demand for it, and you gave us some fantastic questions. So many, in fact, that we'll do another Q&A about Broadcast 7 if we get a few more.

MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't read Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework, then you're going to want to skip this episode entirely. We take the gloves off and get right into the details.

Thank you for supporting this book, and for listening to Crewcast Radio. We're having so much fun, and there's so much more to come!

In this mini-episode, I talk about the hiatus we've taken, when we're coming back and what we'll be doing when we do. I also play some Bif Naked and almost get into a religious argument with myself about the Holidays.

Want to know what happened to us and the plan for the near future? Here it is!

Thank you for listening!

Sylvie, Stephanie and Randy merrily bounce through our planned topics with a broken track counter that keeps telling Randy they're over an hour into recording. They start off talking about the shows they're NOT watching, asking questions like:

Are the Networks watching YOU?

How do you find your favourite shows without cable - LEGALLY?

Is Once Upon A Time better than LOST?

Is TV successfully making the transition to the INTERNET?

They eventually dig into the topic of comic book heroes on TV, in the movies and spend equal time on the ones that did well, and the ones that didn't. That leads to a review of the new Spider-Man movie, some nerd rage and coverage of many more flicks leading to to Iron Man, where many things changed.

With Stephanie nearly delerious from sleep deprivation but bolstered on tea, this gets interesting, even a little ranty!

Our theme tune this week is Pinball Spring, provided by Kevin MacLeod, of incompetech.com. We're thankful for his genius!

Spread the word if you like what you hear, geeks are much more fun when they share!

Thank you for listening!

In this Broadcast, which is solo thanks to some really unfortunate scheduling issues, Randolph Lalonde starts with the Broadcast 7 update. In short, he’s still writing the book. There are a lot of general questions that have gone unanswered for a while, months, sometimes years, and he tries to tackle them by going through an average day in his life, and he talks about how his routine keeps him on track with writing.

A peek behind the curtain in self publishing is provided as he outlines the release process for Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7: Framework. If you want to know the steps involved in getting a book like this to market, and how long it typically takes, this is the place to get the goods.

The 1,000 member mark was reached on the Spinward Fringe Facebook Page, so he celebrates that by talking about the community and answering fresh questions. Other things mentioned in this podcast include the Spinward Fringe Goodreads Forums, Cthulu, breakfast meat, and generous novel samples.

Our music is provided by Again For The Win this week. We play Nights Like These, and you can find them on www.againforthewin.com

Thank you for listening!
